Windsurf Masts

So which pole do you dance with?? Standard diameter or RDM? Using the right mast for each size sail in your quiver will improve your sailing fast. Smaller sails need softer masts, so the sail can still 'flex' properly in the gusts. If you try using your 430cm mast, on your smallest 4.0m, it will feel twitchy and unstable...making it harder for you to make the most of great days on the water.
Most wave sails are now designed to fit on Reduced Diameter (RDM) masts, which are generally stronger and also have a different flex profile which changes the way the sail reacts to gusts. Setting your brand new wave sail on a standard diameter mast can make it feel stiffer, losing some of the forgiveness of some designs of sail.
