I’ve got the new 2012 JP Australia Single Thruster 74. I’ve upgraded from last year’s board and I must say it has improved a great deal. The most noticeable improvement is with turning, both heal and toe side. The GRIP in turns has increased. You can really feel the fins and the rails getting great traction. I’ve also noticed that the board drives straight though chop while turning without bouncing like I used to.

On the bay the board does well as usual. The extra bite makes things more interesting when chopping up little bay waves. Heaps of contol in the air, so no excuses for not landing some big moves. Heaps of drive for early planning. Cut sick!

Tested the New 2012 NP Firefly 5.3 yesterday in 20knots at Elwood on my 2011 JP Freestyle 98l Pro. Compared to my 2011 sail, it felt better balanced with less back hand pressure. Plenty of early planing power like last years sail and the power feels very controllable when really powered up. Great to see NP have brought back the double stitching in the body of the sail as well as using some new heavy duty ‘’armour webb’’ cross ply in the hard wearing areas. This should help if I end up falling on my sail with the harness hook, like I did last summer! Highly recommend the new firefly, I’m getting one! :)
