The Story Behind SHQ Boardsports

SHQ Boardsports Melbourne, established way back 1979 by Mike Meyers down at "the shed" has long been a part of windsurfing in Victoria and still stands as one of the oldest and largest windsurfing stores in Australia. As boardsports have evolved so has SHQ, introducing kiteboarding in the late 90s, being the first store to sell SUP gear in Victoria and becoming a major retailer for Wing Foiling gear in 2020. Now under new management, SHQ continues to provide a complete range of boardsports products along with expert advice and service from passionate riders with years of experience who thrive on sharing the latest in their sport with everyone.

SHQ carries the largest range of both new and pre-loved boards, kites, wings, sails and SUPs as well as every accessory imaginable. Sunshine Coast Boardsports

Sunshine Coast Boardsports is a family based business and was created in 1999 by Dieter & Gina Fischer under the names Sunshine Coast Sailboards, Kite Action and Sunshine Coast SUP Centre. SC Boardports is located in Caloundra on the Sunshine coast and services all of Brisbane, Gold coast and norther QLD. Paul Rogers has been managing the store since 2010 and In 2017 Sunshine Coast Boardsports partnered up with SHQ Boardsports.

Both Paul and the SHQ Boardsports owners are dedicated Kiters, Foilers, Wingers, Stand up Paddleboarders and Windsurfers who love to get out on the water as much as possible.

Keeping the shop 100% Rider owned and focused on servicing the local and Australian Water sports community with the best advise and products.

Core Boardsports

Core Boardsports started as a bricks and mortar store in Geelong, VIC specialising in Windsurfing and SUP Equipment. The store was then relocated Torquay (VIC) to to be closer to the windsurf and surf community.

It was then with much regret that we closed the doors of this store to focus our effort into online store which shared its stock with with our 2 other stores, SHQ Boardsports and Sunshine Coast Boardsports. We have now made the decision to combine the Core Boardsports online store with the SHQ online store. We still offer all the best brands with the largest range of products in Australia.
