No matter what sport you're doing if you get in the water you're probably going to need a wetsuit.
Wetsuits come in all shapes and sizes from a thin spring (shorty) suit for warmer conditions all the way to a steamer (long) suit. Wetsuit warmth is measured by the thickness of neoprene in mm. A wetsuit for warmer conditions may be 2mm while winter suits are 5/4mm. But the trade-off for a warmer suit is that thicker neoprene will impede movement more, being harder to get on and off and less flexible once on.
Wetsuits can also be accompanied with other neoprene gear including: hats, gloves, booties, hoods.
